Art is something that speaks to the viewer individually. It makes one ‘feel’ something. Good, bad, indifferent….but every now and again a style comes along that gives your heart a little lift…it makes you happy.
Fare Bella is beyond happy to introduce the bright and beautiful work of talented artist, Coni Grant. Coni has a sense of color and design that is sophisticated and complex but one doesn’t see that initially…they just smile!
I am a life-long artist and have lived and painted in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado for the last 16 years.. The natural beauty of the region exerts a continual influence over my artistic imagination.
Innovative color ideas and a design emphasis help me express a distinctive view of the landscape, and ‘plein air’ – or painting outside, on location is my greatest source of inspiration. I have been influenced by painters of the American West and Canada, where plein air work has a great tradition, but also by the expressionist painters of the 20th century.
After a career of 20 years in advertising and graphic design, primarily in San Francisco, I devoted myself to painting full time. I have a BFA in Graphic Design, a Masters degree in Painting and a California teaching credential for Adult Education.
Currently, I work out of the PleinView Studio in Alamosa where I live with my husband and family, paint full time, and teach Painting classes all year around. My classes and workshops emphasize painting fundamentals with a focus on design skills and inventive color use.
Art Association and club memberships include: Plein Air Artists Colorado, Plein Air Painters New Mexico, Spanish Peaks Arts Council, founding member of San Luis Vallery Painters, and High Desert Painters – an international plein air group.
